I am on a journey to live the best life possible for myself, by working hard, being fearless and unapologetic about what I want from my career and life. Let’s join together and challenge our perspectives and thinking.
I am 40-year-old, HR professional at a Fortune 500 company. Collectivity, I have over 15 years of experience in the areas of Human Resources, Management and Leadership, and People Leading. I have a Master of Science in Management and Leadership, Doctorate of Education in Organizational Leadership and Graduate certificate in Executive Coaching. I identify with the struggles people face every day with the disconnect between professional purpose and current situation. I have personally experienced being laid-off and taking the new job at half my pervious pay, having more month than money. I’ve had to live and overcome my own self-imposed career mistakes and hurdled the roadblock placed in front of me by those who didn’t value my talent. I want to share my experiences and insight in hopes I can encourage someone to not give up. I decided to launch my own coaching and consulting business, after I made the decision to start investing in my own professional goals. I was at a crossroads in my life. I had all the pieces to the puzzle, but was still struggling to advance my career. Coincidentally, I was constantly having the same conversation with many others. I was an educated black woman in Corporate America with a resume filled with successful accomplishments, yet I wasn’t where I wanted to be in my career. I’d checked all of the boxes I was told to check. In addition, I knew if I wanted to change my situation I needed to try a new approach, unlearn some old habits and shift my perspective. I want to create a space that challenges the career norms and rules and drives us reconsider what to do when you don’t know what to do. I know the mistakes I’ve made, lessons learned, and my journey towards self-realization could encourage someone to keep grinding until they figure it out.
